Community Benefit Scheme

So that the community benefits directly and indirectly from this wind farm project we plan to introduce a community benefit scheme which will start making payments to local residents and community projects when the wind farm commences operating. While we are yet to finalise the details of the scheme, at a minimum it will include the following:

  • Payments to all dwellings located within 2 km of a wind turbine location; 

  • Subsidies for energy efficiency measures for dwellings located within 4 km of a wind turbine location;

  • An annual community benefit fund for community projects; and

  • An annual education fund dedicated to nearby primary and secondary schools. 

Please note the final benefit sharing scheme will not be less than what has been previously announced. 

We will aim to tailor the community benefit scheme to the needs of the local community. Accordingly, in the coming weeks we will be conducting house visits in the local area. During these visits we will continue to seek feedback about the proposed community benefit scheme.
