Community Benefit Scheme

So that the community benefits directly and indirectly from this wind farm project, we plan to introduce a Community Benefit Scheme from the start of generation that will include the following:

  • Houses located within two kilometres (2 km) of a wind turbine will receive an annual payment of $3000 and a $15,000 solar-battery system.
  • Houses located between two and three kilometres (2 km – 3 km) of a wind turbine will receive a $15,000 solar-battery system.
  • Houses located between three and four kilometres (3 km – 4 km) of a wind turbine will be offered a conventional solar system to the value of $6,000.
  • A Community Fund will be established which will receive $30,000 per annum from the wind farm for community projects.
  • A further $6,000 per annum will be dedicated to each primary and secondary school located in Cobden, totalling $18,000 per annum.

Finally, in addition to these benefits which will be paid directly to the local community, the Mumblin Wind Farm is expected to pay over $100,000 each year in rates to the Corangamite Shire Council.

Please note that the final details and procedures for distribution of community benefits will be provided to relevant parties and listed on the project website after the project receives Development Approval.
